Our plans were significantly altered by COVID for our ceremony by going from relatively large to just 6 people. Marilyn thank you so much for the most unique, inspiring & magical wedding ceremony ever! I was very nervous about the ceremony since it was a second marriage for me and neither of us were spring chickens... We wanted something that would combine a bit of our shared heritage, a bit of tradition, and a bit of fun, but something that was completely individual (as all brides do!). Marilyn managed to incorporate all of this into a ceremony that was relatively short, witty and completely unique. She answered all of our questions, and didn't mind my many long, quirky email conversations that it took, to get things 'just right'. It was important to me that we include my (adult) daughter, whom was helping plan the wedding, despite living in the US, and Marilyn did that - via emails and during the brief meeting before the wedding - taking her input, to help with the 'personal stories' aspect of the planning. Seems like we can't put 6 stars, I would if I could. Marilyn has made the wedding experience a breeze. You really want her as a celebrant and I'm not paid to say so. From the planning phase where she gives you countless tips on things outside the scope of her business just because she actually cares, to the coaching throughout the day itself. Seriously, we were quite stressed (as you can imagine), and as soon as she arrived, stressed oozed out of us. Everything was smooth and orchestrated, she's funny, friendly, outgoing, everyone raved about how great the wedding was compared to what you could be used to. She was accommodating too, we married in the bush quite far from her place and she made it happen in the best possible way. We also have very different cultures and she dived in to understand and merge it in a clever way. It was a big memorable day and there's no way she's not responsible for it, Thank you for being our marriage celebrant to make special day. Marilyn, you are such a beautiful caring person and great to had you on our wedding. You were perfect and made that day such a special and memorable moment of our life. Thank you ! We are from Adelaide and decided to get married in the most beautiful part of Australia......The Gold Coast! Planning just about every part of our wedding was done via the internet & email. Hello Marilyn, It is with pleasure that we do this little testimonial for you. Even though we both live in Canberra we decided on the Gold Coast as our wedding venue. After surfing the web we found Marilyn’s website and there was just something about the site that made the decision for us pretty easy. What a great choice we made. Marilyn made us feel welcome and comfortable from the first time we met in her home. Nothing was too much trouble for her and all the arrangements were simple and straight forward. At least that is the way Marilyn made it feel. Most of our interaction from then on was over the phone or via email right up until our rehearsal for our special day, but again nothing was too much trouble. On our wedding day Marilyn even made sure she knew what colours the girls in our wedding party were wearing so that she made sure she was dressed to match. It is the little things that count. Even though the weather was not our best friend on the day, Marilyn took it all in her stride and never let it affect her professional attitude. The plus side was the rain just before the ceremony made us move from the beach to inside the surf club. Our guests thought this was a much better option as everyone was able to hear and see what was going on the whole time. Given our wedding was the second time for both of us the memory of this day will last forever. We especially loved the sand ceremony where our two blended families were able to create a special long lasting bond. Marilyn joined in the fun of our wedding vows, even though they were a little different. We are sure if you ask Marilyn she may even let you see them. When we discovered Marilyn's website, we definitely felt a sense of assurance that Marilyn was not only passionate about her job, but approachable too. My partner and I were obviously fretting to plan such a big event in a short period of time, but Marilyn was incredibly helpful and understanding and responded to our concerns promptly. In the end, the wedding which included a beautiful American Indian Handfasting was definitely a great success. We felt comfortable to be ourselves on such a stressful day and we are incredibly grateful to have had such a caring celebrant to help us accomplish so much. Thank you again for everything Marilyn! My husband Nick and I can't tell you the amount of times we have told people, "hiring Marilyn as our celebrant from NZ was the best money we spent on our wedding...full stop!" By chance we stumbled across Marilyn on Google and never looked back. I cant say that we were overly demanding about our ceremony, but we certainly knew what we didn't want! Trying to sort everything out from a different country was far more challenging than we expected. Thank God for the Internet,our record of communication with Marilyn must read like a novel, but yet Marilyn never tired of our excuses for not getting back to her in time, was always patient, professional and diligent, and helped organise and remind us of very important things that we might otherwise have forgotten or overlooked. And finally....we arrived! After months of helpful emails at no extra expense, we met Marilyn who was of course the lovely lady just as much in person who had helped us through all the snags (no matter how hard you try they always happen) of our planning. The ceremony was PERFECT !!! Marilyn made some last minute spontaneous touches that proved her experience in such things,that just MADE the day. I can't help but think that Marilyn is just very intuitive and naturally gifted about knowing what makes the perfect day for different people. We of course highly recommend her to make your special day ....very special in a unique way, just for you. We live in Brisbane and decided to get married on the Gold Coast. It was easiest for us to contact celebrants via email. Marilyn was the only one who called to discuss our wedding plans and seemed just as enthusiastic and interested in our day as we were. Even on the phone, before meeting in person, she had suggestions regarding our day and made us feel at ease.
